An unsolicited review from the Buckingham-Nicks website fan forum:

I saw this show over the weekend at Harrah's. I can't rave enough about the professionalism, musicianship, and authenticity of Bella Donna: A Tribute to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.

Let me explain.

This is not some silly Stevie Nicks impersonation romp. No camp. No parody. No over the top gestures or vocal mimicry. No karaoke or lip sync. This show is a full-on tribute to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, performed by a group of professional musicians who obviously have years of live music performance experience under their belts. This group is far from the standard lounge act you get at most casinos.

Michelle Tyler is a talented professional singer. She delivered an amazing set of Stevie Nicks solo and Fleetwood Mac music, so authentic, I almost forgot I wasn't watching the real thing. Bob Weitz is a huge talent on guitar. He's so versatile. He can authentically recreate Buckingham's unique guitar style on the FM material with just the right flourish. When playing a totally different Waddy Wachtel style number from Stevie's solo material, he is also spot on. The other musicians and singers in this 8 person group are up to the task of varied FM and SN material. With the exception of the recent Gold Dust touring band, I'd go out on a limb and say Bella Donna recreates the Fleetwood Mac material better Stevie's own solo touring bands. They're that good. The one thing that constantly reminded me I wasn't watching the real thing? Sorry to say this, but...

THE SETLIST WAS BETTER THAN ANYTHING I EVER ENJOYED AT A REAL STEVIE NICKS CONCERT.

I thought I died and went to heaven when I heard authentic renditions of songs most Stevie fans would die to hear again from La Nicks herself: "Rooms on Fire", "Talk to Me", and "Gold and Braid".

We were also treated to some of Stevie's recently resurrected forgotten songs: "Beautiful Child", "If Anyone Falls", and "Silver Springs".

A wonderful sprinkling of non-Stevie Fleetwood Mac mateiral led by the two talented backup singers: "Songbird", "World Turning", and "The Chain".

Not to have merely a nostalgic tribute, they also included "Say You Will". (Michelle threw in just a bit of lasso dance to make it fun for discerning fans.)

Stevie's usual concert standards were performed with amazing authenticity: "Rhiannon", "Dreams", "Gold Dust Woman", "Gypsy", "Landslide", "Enchanted", "I Need To Know", "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", "Leather and Lace" (a treat for those like me who prefer the all girl version), "Stand Back", and "Edge of Seventeen".

I know I'm forgetting some songs. This is only what I can remember off the top of my head. If I were to search long and hard for one bit of criticism, I'd admit Stevie's longtime show stopper, Stand Back, was the least effective song in the set. Stevie has that number so fine tuned now. Without the huge synth track and massive percussions anchoring the music, the song falls a little short. Nothing to be ashamed of, though. It was still a crowd pleaser.

If you have a chance to see this show, go! Treat yourself to the closest thing you'll ever get to the real deal. The price makes the real thing obscene by comparison. It cost me two $2 drinks to rock out to my favorite music all night long. The best bargain in entertainment I've ever enjoyed. See them now while the price is a steal. I have a feeling the free lounge shows will soon be going by the wayside and bigger showrooms will be in the future if the band keeps going with this fantastic tribute. They do Stevie and Fleetwood Mac every justice. I think Stevie herself would be proud of the show they provide for a constantly hungry fan base that can't always have the original.

I have to admit I went to this show out of curiosity. I had seen some flyers around town. Being a long time Stevie fan, I was skeptical. Bella Donna put my fears to rest. This was one great show. There were so many other Nicks fans there, that it was sort of a "coming together". The band was tight, the Stevie impersonator was amazing. All I had to do was squint my eyes a little and Stevie was up there! I am going to see their show at the Canyon Club that I saw posted on Tribute City. If you havent seen this great tribute band, please do!

Reviewer: Linda Ellis -
Bella Donna, the live tribute to Stevie Nicks was, at times, surreal. I had to keep reminding myself what I was seeing and hearing was an incredible impersonation of the Queen Of Rock and not the real thing. The 10th annual Los Angeles Veterans Holiday Benefit and Concert was the setting for an afternoon of great music. Jim Belushi and his band were the headliners, but it was BELLA DONNA who stole the show! Singer, Michelle Tyler had all the right moves and the sultry vocals that made one take a second look. She flowed onto the stage, swirling in white chiffon and platform boots...Interesting note, Ms. Tyler is replicating the svelte, sexy Stevie Nicks of 2002... The backing band was awesome and well rehearsed. Two guitarists (one electric, one acoustic), bass, drums, keyboards and two outstanding and beautiful backup singers. The crowd went crazy when all three girls shared one mic up front for a three part "Leather and Lace". It was perhaps, one of the most authentic tributes I have ever seen. Bella Donna is a local act to be on the lookout for.

I have worked in the professional impersonator industry (as Madonna)since 1985. I've written 2 books on the subject of impersonation and am considered "an expert" in this world- with all that said...BELLA DONNA is the MOST AMAZING DEAD-ON BEAUTIFUL re-creation of Stevie Nicks and THE BEST Tribute band I have EVER heard! Unbeliveable! SHE ROCKS and the band is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bella Donna
The Canyon
Agoura, California
March 15, 2003

By Vickie Wright

"Thunder only happens when it's raining" turned out to be more than lyrics to a Fleetwood Mac song this weekend. The band Bella Donna performed at The Canyon Club in Agoura on Saturday, March 15. A light rain and thunderstorm fell over the area shortly before the show. The thunder outside was no comparison to the thunder happening inside the club.

Michelle Tyler fronts Bella Donna, a Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac tribute band. The band and Michelle did an awesome re-creation of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac on stage. The Canyon Club was packed to a full house. The intimate seating arrangements made it seem as if Stevie Nicks was performing for us in our living room. Crowds overflowed on the big couches and chairs, a nice touch for a concert that made one feel like they were back in the 70's. The only thing missing was the smell of patchouli and incense.

Michelle does not just perform and sing Stevie; she captures her true essence and spirit. The talented singer moved, looked, and became Stevie Nicks. Michelle's vocal talent is incredible; she possesses Nicks' same strong, raspy, sexy, quality mixed with emotion that makes you feel magical. Her presence was amazingly inspiring. With the many tiny details that went into their show, any Fleetwood Mac fan could see that as a whole the band and Michelle have perfected their tribute to make one not only see them but feel them. As far as the audience members were concerned, Stevie Nicks was on the stage with Mick Fleetwood on the drums and cowbell during such classics as "Gold Dust Woman" and "The Chain". Michelle's wardrobe was right out of Ms. Nicks closet. Her flowing outfits, high heeled boots, and white tambourine helped create a visual that made you feel that Michelle was The Queen of Rock and Roll magically serenading you. It was enchanting to say the least.

One did not have to pretend or close their eyes, the energy was there, and Michelle channeled Stevie the entire time. She was alive on stage; it was hard to tell who was paying the tribute. Michelle enjoyed the audience as much as the audience enjoyed her presentation.

The authentic details could be heard in the sound of the band. They were finely tuned to perfection and transformed into Fleetwood Mac. The background harmonies were rich and blended beautifully with Michelle's leads. Musically, Stevie's solo years were represented on stage as well as her duets. The crowd headed to the dance floor for "Stand Back" and "Edge Of Seventeen". An on-stage wind machine added visions of Stevie to these powerful performances. The beautiful background singers joined Michelle in an angelic rendition of "Leather & Lace". With the world's current situation and times of crisis, people want and need nostalgia more than ever. Michelle and her band took the audience back to a happier time. Pure and simple, it was great music.

The crowd was hushed and swayed slowly as Michelle sang "Landslide". Lovers sang along and held hands. In true Mac fashion, guitar player Bob Weitz rested his chin on his hand just as Lindsey Buckingham does during the final lyric of the song as he gazes at the song bird. It was as authentic as it could get at that moment. Michelle and her guitarist even exchanged the classic "thank yous" that Stevie and Lindsay have done when they perform this song on stage. A lot of thought and effort went into paying homage to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie; these added details show how much Michelle and her bandmates care about what she is doing for the legacy she is paying tribute to. The show was presented with the utmost respect and loyalty, the fans truly loved every minute and a lot of them recreated their own version of Stevie by coming dressed in lace, velvet, and fringe.

The crowd pleaser of the night was "Silver Springs". The crowd exploded as the piano intro began. Michelle had a background choir of hundreds as we all sang along to the beautifully sung ballad. At the close of the song she was authentically Stevie and said, "Silver Springs is a great old song". Michelle and the band left nothing out and left no one feeling empty. While Michelle dashed off to change into another fabulous Nicks ensemble, the ladies piped out awesome vocals on "Say You Love Me" which is a lead sung by Christine McVie during Fleetwood Mac shows. No one could feel left out- it was all there right down to the wind machine that blew on Michelle as she danced, sang and transformed herself into the Queen Gypsy.

The encore was "Rhiannon" another classic that Michelle truly gave a 100% of herself to. It seemed as if the 90-minute show went by too fast. The Canyon was the prefect venue for Bella Donna to tantalize us; the room was filled with spirit. Michelle Tyler put on a great show. We were treated to something very special. Bella Donna will be performing at Paladino's in Reseda in April and at The Strawberry Festival in Oxnard in May. For more info please visit www.cuppajoe-music.com/beldon.
